Blessings {baby love}

originally, i had planned to have this printed BEFORE my aunt seeing it but i can't help myself any longer!  she subscribes to this blog and chances are she is tearing up (i know b/c i am right now as i type this).  she is one of the most amazing people i know, the other is her mommy (my granny).  both of these women have been been tested through life with losing so much and fighting through cancer(s)...yes plural!

i am blessed to be part of these women and i am lucky if i am ever half the greatness they are.

ok, enough of the sappy....so here we go.  here is my aunt with her very first grandchild.  he is amazing, isn't he??!  oh how i want to squeeze him. :)

the best part of this photo, this was the very first time little man fell asleep in his grandma's arms.  a priceless moment for all three of us indeed.

i love you to the moon and back!
(yes, i will have it printed)

he is just toooo cute for words. i mean really people, don't you see it?? :)

 the eyes...oh the eyes!!

CANCER SUCKS! {photographers giving back}

Avenue7 Photography is excited to announce a partnership with Shoots for a Cure (formerly known as Think Pink Photography). Think Pink Photography was founded in October 2007 to support individuals and their families who have been touched by breast cancer. We are a charitable organization that serves two main purposes – celebrating life and supporting the cause. Recently, we changed our name and our support. We now want to support ALL cancer patients, not just breast cancer.
Through our professional photographer network, we are helping cancer patients to celebrate life with charitable photography sessions. Individuals may choose to document their fight against the disease before or during treatment, or prefer to capture their victory by scheduling a session within 12 months after treatment is completed. Photographers world-wide are now available to donate time and talent to celebrate life and support the cause. There is no cost or obligation to the cancer patient. Clients participating in a Shoots for a Cure session will receive a complimentary photo session, as well as a set of 10 small prints from the session. They will also receive a discount on any additional portraits they wish to purchase, although there is absolutely no purchase required at any time.
To support the cause, we donate and fundraise for The American Cancer Society and the Susan G Komen Foundation. All funds generated through donations and various fundraising efforts are paid directly to The American Cancer Society, the Susan G Komen Foundation, in our name, or used 100% for marketing and awareness of our program.
Please subscribe to our blog (on the Shoots for a Cure website) and tell your friends and family about Shoots for a Cure. Awareness is everything and we can’t be successful without you.
I encourage you to view our website, make a donation, or hire a photographer that supports Shoots for a Cure! If you hire me, mention Shoots for a Cure and I will make a personal donation to the organization. If you, or someone you know, would like to schedule a Shoots for a Cure session, please contact me for details.
I am very proud to be a network photographer with Shoots for a Cure, and am anxious to get the word out about this amazing program. For more information, you can contact me, or you can visit the Shoots for a Cure website at http://shootsforacure.com

shoots for a cure {giving back}

somethings are just in my heart.  giving back is one that i hold dearest.  i am a believer and if you need it, HE will provide.  some have asked me how i have so much extra time dedicated to giving back?  i just make the time.  i skip tv a lot and i work late to edit but at the end of the day, when i see the smiles and emotions in my work, i'm happy.  there are days (like yesterday), when i'm so sick i can't get out of bed and there are days (like today), i'm slowly getting back to "normal" and can work more.  then i have amazing days where i can work for 12 plus hours and feel great!  anyone can give back to a cause...try it! it feels amazing!!

Respect {Professional Photographer}

I pulled this from a fellow photog's FB page, Natalie Bee.
Not sure whom the original creator of this document is but they are spot on and should be credited!  Professional photographers work harder than most and when you break down the hourly wage, it's less than someone who is flippin burgers!  Someone will comment with horrific words of "just quit".  I could but why give up on a dream?  Why rob the world of amazing portraiture and art?  What if Ansel Adams just gave up?  Or Annie Leibovitz said just forget it?  How about Anne Geddes?  Just three of the photographers that have inspired me to keep working at what I love no matter the cost.  Think about that next time you stare at the amazing photograph your photographer captured of a family member.

Wishing you all Peace, Love, Hope, and Photographs!

Saving my Starbucks Card {ode to the hubby, AKA Photographer's life saver}

My cute little "pocket purse" or wristlet was purcased a few months back so I could just toss it in my camera bag and go.  Well recently, I've been using it instead of my huge purse for quick trips to the store where the big camera was staying put at home so it's been used a lot.  IT BROKE! :(  So much for spending a few extra bucks on real leather.  blah blah.  So I was in a hurry and making sure I had all the important things in my wristlet ie. business cards, batteries, SD cards and my STARBUCKS GOLD CARD!  Yes, I am a member and I get free coffee!!!!  Well I dropped the dang card in between my seat!  HOW on earth did I manage to drop the most important thing in the world? Ok, not really but today...I need it today!  It's there, I can see it, so shiny but I cannot reach it!  OHHHH HELP ME!  So hubby sees my feet haning out of the front seat and probably stands there for several minutes watching and giggling, I'm sure I felt his presense. Those that have been on the phone (prior to hands free, another hubby saving grace item) are well aware of what happens when things fall into the land of the lost!  Everything falls into the crack at some point.  Do you know what it's like to hear your phone ringing multiple times but you cannot get to it??  Oh it is pure agony!  Who is you wonder?  A customer needing info?  One of my kids?  Hubby? MOM?  OH HELP ME GET MY CARD!  So finally hubby comes to my rescue and saves me from a day of caffine deprivation!  MY HERO!  Oh thank you thank you!  What a MAN! :)

Addicted to Pinterest {Photography}

I am seriously addicted to Pinterest!!! I could probably sit on the computer for days on end pinning everything I love.  I've decorated houses we don't have, weddings and parties, and loads of dinners but I am hopelessly addicted!  I'm always stumped with what to do with my windows.  I will be sharing my awesome creations once completed!! I don't think hubby minds too much since he is loving the crockpot meals and fresh scent of our homemade fabreeze!  :)

Sophie & Charles {Christmas Love}

I saved this post for after Christmas because Sophie & Charles were giving their photographs as gifts to family.  They were so much fun and I can't wait to photograph them again soon.  Their original session was rescheduled due to my untimely illness. I was so thrilled to have a beautiful winter day to capture them.

A Fellow Photog's Recent Post {more than paper}

As a photographer I find that I don't take as many photos of my own family even though I have my camera readily at my disposal.  I'm sharing this blog post from a fellow photog not because of pricing but because we all are guilty of letting life slip by without notice.  My family has suffered loss and sadness and each time I realize more and more how precious photographs really are.  It's a look back through a lifetime of memories and moments that can be forgotten but shouldn't.  Take this time to read this blog post!
